Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers
It has been an eventful term, and our students have participated in many engaging activities and experiences. Well done to all students who participated and gave their best in the interschool athletics carnival as well as our school and interschool cross country carnivals. We are very proud of them for their efforts. Our senior students have learned about Aboriginal culture, history and traditions through engaging lessons and exciting virtual reality experiences in the Moombaki and Koya programs. Many students and classes have benefitted from the exceptional music program provided by Boonderu. We look forward to the upcoming performances that Boonderu students and our senior choir are preparing for throughout the remainder of this year. Students have also enjoyed several excursions and incursions, including the Swan View SHS Robotics & Media Experience and Showcase Assembly, the Barking Gecko Theatre Experience, Life Education Van and Visiting Farm incursion.
We also appreciate the involvement of our parents and school community in special events such as the Mother’s Day Breakfast, ANZAC Assembly, Three Way Conferences, and Coffee Chats with our speech therapist and school psychologist.
A very big thank you to all our staff for their hard work this term and for going above and beyond to ensure that our students have not only the best possible education but also access to many rich and varied experiences within our curriculum. We have an exceptional staff at Middle Swan who provide exemplary care and commitment to our students and school community. I have greatly appreciated their support this term.
As we head into holidays, I hope all our families have an enjoyable and relaxing break. We look forward to seeing all students for the start of Term 2 on Tuesday 18 July. We also look forward to Mrs Coventry’s return following her well-deserved long service leave.

Reports
Semester 1 reports will be available in Connect on Friday 30 June. If you were unable to attend a Three-Way Conference last week and you wish to discuss your child’s progress, please contact the classroom teacher to organise a suitable time to meet.
NAIDOC
Our NAIDOC Assembly will be held next term on Wednesday 2 August. Parents and community members are invited to attend this special celebration of our Indigenous culture and history and to recognise the contributions of our Indigenous Elders. Year 4 to 6 choir students will collaborate with Moorditj Noongar Community College to present a special performance. We hope to see you there.

Kindy Enrolments
A reminder that Kindy enrolments for 2024 are due in Week 1 of Term 3. If you have a child who will be Kindy age in 2024, please come to the School Office to complete an enrolment form. Furthermore, if you know any families who have Kindy age children for 2024, please pass this information to them.

Interschool Cross Country
On Wednesday 14 June, 2023 we had our Interschool Cross Country Carnival at Ron Jose Oval. All of our students did incredibly well and demonstrated great sportsmanship.
Students placed highly in many events. I would like to mention that Manaia Humphries came first in the Year 3 Girls race. Izack Carpenter placed third in the Year Five Boys race.
These are the overall scores as a school we placed in the following events:
Year 4 Boys Race- 4th Place
Year 5 Girls Race- 3rd Place
Year 5 Boys Race- 2nd Place
Year 6 Girls Race- 2nd Place
Year 6 Boys Race- 4th Place
This was a great day with all the students enjoying themselves and cheering on one another. Thank you to all parents, friends and family members who came to support the students. Craig Young, Sport teacher
